‘The Future Tour- Eco Energy’ part of mega event ‘Bonjour India’ has been completed on Feb 17, 2018.
UPES has organized the mega event Bonjour India in which the round table discussions was made to formulate the Indo-French collaborations to promote the green energy.
In this event various academicians, industrial experts and lenders has participated from both the countries to share their views on collaborative research and development in the green energy and the present requirement to propagate the market towards green energy.

UPES got an opportunity to conduct an important event of
‘Bonjour India’. Bonjour India, is a crucial stage of ‘Knowledge Summit’; in
which Hon’ble Prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Hon’ble French President
Emmanuel Macron will be signing Bilateral Agreement between India &
France on March 10-11, 2018.
Bonjour India’s ‘Future Tour – Eco Energy’ was conducted in
UPES on Feb 16, 17 2018 at Bidholi campus.
The Inaugural Ceremony was conducted on Feb 16, 2018. Mr. N.
Ravishanker, Former Chief Secretary, Govt, of Uttarakhand was the Chief Guest
and Ms. Adele MARTIAL Gros, Deputy Counsellor from French Embassy was the Guest
of Honor. Around 250+ have witnessed the Inaugural Ceremony in Vivekananda
Auditorium.
There were 4 Round Tables on the topics related to ‘Smart
Grid’, ‘Solar Energy’, ‘Decarburization’, ‘e-Vehicles’. There Round Tables were
the main backbone of the events and have ruled the FN session of Feb 16. Around
31 experts all around the India and France have participated in the Round
Table Discussion. To a name a few eminent experts are Dr. Dhiran Patel,
Dean-VJTI, Dr. Sukumar Mishra – Prof. IITD, Dr. Dinesh Pandya- Dean IITJ, Dr.
Dinesh Babu- Meger (India), Bhupesh Arora VP - Schneider, Karin Bony-Merad,
Director-Societe Generale India (Banker), Mr. Manish Verma – Senior VP,
ENGIE, along with the French Delegates.
There were two Plenary Sessions and followed by the
‘Development of Training module for Renewable Energy’. Ms. Karin Bony-Merad,
Director-Societe Generale India delivered a talk on financing solar Energy In
India and
Mr. Manish Verma – Senior VP, ENGIE delivered a talk on
‘e-Vehicle opportunity and challenges in India’. Prof. K. Raghavan, Prof. UPES,
concluded on the outcomes of all four round tables.
The Feb 16, was concluded with campus round and Lab visits.
All the dignitaries were excited to see the student Projects under ‘RISE’ and
other international student projects.
The Feb 17, was fully dedicated to students. The day begun
with Presentations by French University representatives and followed by one to
one interaction till 3.00 PM.

Cricket &
Badminton Tournament organized on the occasion of Republic Day
EPE
Dept. celebrated Republic Day with great zeal and enthusiasm this year. The
faculty and student duo participated in a Cricket and Badminton tournament.
With each student team led by two faculty members, this event showed how a
teacher cannot only be a mentor in their academics but also an active guide in
sports and play.
Followed
by the flag hoisting ceremony, the matches started with fervor to win. Dr.
Praveen K. Ghodke & Mr. Neeraj K. Sharma’s team emerged as winners, with
Dr. Saini’s team as the 1st runner up in the cricket match.

& Prof. N.B. Soni(HOD for encouraging us all & being an integral part of this event. With efforts of Dr. Saini (A.P.- SG, EPE Dept.) and the entire organizing team including the admin, infirmary, and the CSO the tournament concluded successfully with active participation from all.

Power System Lab Visit by Dignitaries from Swedish Neutral, Sweden
EPE Department has organized the workshop on Ground Fault Neutralizer in which the speakers from SWEDISH NEUTRAL company Mr. KLAUS WINTER(Chief Executive Officer),
Mr. NIKLAS WINTER (Executive Vice-President) and Mr. VIACHESLAV LEVASHOV(International Sales Coordinator) has delivered the lectures on the Ground Fault Neutralizer its importance and also discussed the operations of Ground Fault Neutralizer with the help of simulation in the software NMTerm developed by the SWEDISH NEUTRAL company. By the end of the workshop Dignitaries has visited our Power System Lab where we have installed the testing kit for Power System Protection and monitoring of Power System. Working of the software was explained by Dr. Isaac R., Mr N B Soni (HOD) and Mr. R M Sharma.
Dignitaries has given their suggestions for improving the testing kit to perform the real time simulations by integrating UPES Power System so that students will understand the critical operation of Power System Protection and Stability and also assured for providing opportunities to our students to avail internship in their firm.

International Workshop on Ground Fault Neutraliser organised by EPE Department UPES
Department of Electrical Power and Energy has organized a workshop on
"Ground Fault Neutraliser" from 28th Aug to 30th Aug 2017 in UPES Campus. Key speakers are
1. Mr. Klaus Winter (Chief Executive Officer Swedish Neutral Power Protection)
2. Mr. Niklas Winter (Executive Vice-President Swedish Neutral Power Protection)
3. Mr. Viacheslav Levasho ( International Coordinator Swedish Neutral Power Protection)
Workshop will be covering the important aspects of the power system protection under which following aspects will be covered like Introduction to Neutral Treatment, Grounding concepts, Resonant Earthing, Ground Fault Neutralizer Review of GFN equipment, GFN Project Specification, GFN Implementation & Commissioning Terminal software of the GFN (NMTerm), Understanding Alarms, Event File and Earth Fault Recordings NET model testing: Demonstration of the various GFN operating schemes.
With the help of this workshop individual will understand the critical issues related to power system protection and learn about the protective devices which has been developed by Swedish Neutral AB, Sweden Company.

‘International Workshop on Smart Grid & e-Vehicles’
Department of Electrical Power & Energy has successfully
organized a one week ‘International Workshop on Smart
Grid & e-Vehicles’ from August 7 to August 11, 2017. This workshop
was organized in association with Consortium for Rapid Smart Grid Impact
(CRSGI). CRSGI has been funded by US Fed and UK.
Following Distinguished speakers delivered expert
lectures and exercised extensive training sessions of the workshop:
1) Prof. Athula Kulatunga, Professor &
Head, Engineering & Technology, Purdue University, USA
2)
Prof. Dionizio Paschoareli Jr.,
Head-Electrical Engineering, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
3)
Prof. Sudheera Navaratne, Electrical
Engineering, Peradeniya University, Sri Lanka.
Prof. Yogesh Gupta & Prof. Ram K Shivpuri also delivered
expert talks on the topics associated with the workshop.
The Inauguration Ceremony was conducted on August 08, 2017
at MDC. Prof. K. Raghavan proceeded with the session and Prof. Suresh Kumar,
Director, CoES ( Core Engineering) Presided the event.
With around 30+ students and Seven faculty members attending
the event, majority of the sessions were conducted with hands on experience on
the software ‘Powerfactory’
In this workshop students and faculty has taken resolution for Energizing rural areas of Uttarakhand which are deprived of Energy by installing various renewable energy sources.
